The most common concern among women is how to use a menstrual cup and whether it causes any leakage while doing so. So, let us dispel the myth and emphasise that menstruation cups are perfectly safe to use as long as they are properly sterilised.

What is menstrual cup?

A menstrual cup is a small flexible cup composed of silicone and latex rubber that is used during menstruation. Because the cup's shape is flexible, it can be squeezed or folded while attempting to put it into the vaginal canal. The flow is absorbed by the pad and tampons, whereas the flow is collected by the menstrual cup without any leaking.

It may be simply placed, exactly like tampons, and it stretches out to attach to the vaginal walls, preventing any leakage. As a result, blood collects in the menstrual cup.

Menstrual cups are mostly reusable, however some are disposable. To remove the cup, just lift the stem that protrudes from the bottom and drag the base to release the seal. Clear the blood from the cup, wash it, and reuse it. It should be sanitised with boiling water at the end of your menstrual cycle.

The main advantages of the menstrual cups are that it is both environmentally and financially friendly because it is reusable. Cups can protect you for longer than tampons. When compared to tampons, they can last 4-6 hours longer depending on your flow. Overall, it is a reusable product that is safe to use when menstruating.
