Painless Delivery
By giving the mother epidural anesthetic during labor, a painless, normal birth can be
achieved. This is a type of localized anesthetic that relieves pain in a specific area of the
body.
A painless normal delivery or labor analgesia (Epidural) is a procedure that uses a very
particular concentration of medication. Although the medicine alleviates pain, it does not
impair your ability to push your kid out through the delivery canal.
How is epidural anesthesia delivered?
While receiving the epidural, you may be required to sit still with your back arched. By
placing a tiny tube into the lower region of your spinal cord, the doctor will catheterize your
lower back. The needle is removed, and the catheter is taped in place, allowing the epidural
anesthetic to be delivered during labor. Once you are in active labor, the epidural is given and
works by numbing your pelvic region and everything below it while you remain conscious.
You should be aware; however, that it does not provide complete pain relief.
Why go for Epidural Painless Delivery –
? Painless delivery allows women to experience natural childbirth with minimal
intervention. It has contributed to a reduction in the number of volunteer C-sections in
India.
? It assists the woman to concentrate on the delivery by relieving pain. It is a relaxing
tool that can minimize the weariness and irritation that most women experience
during childbirth, lowering the risk of developing post-partum problems.
? It facilitates the baby's descent downwards by relaxing the pelvic and vaginal
muscles.
? It also helps in decreasing the mother's blood pressure, which can otherwise rise to
dangerous levels during labor.
Overall, choosing an epidural painless birth is a far better option than having a C-Section or
experiencing entire labor pain during normal delivery.
